SERVICE & REPAIR
My golden bronze patina (and wrinkled skin) proves I have many years of experience solving irrigation problems. I'm here to dictate diagnostic procedures and NOT waste time exploring options when a more proven route is in order. I have a vast inventory of parts and new items on my vehicle. I stock over one thousand nozzles, brass and plastic valves, and plenty of pipe. I have 2” high/ 3”/ 4”/ 6” and 12” high pop-up sprinklers by Toro, Rainbird and Hunter manufacturers. I rarely need to exit a job site for parts. If I do leave, you aren’t charged for the time. I try not to settle for “close enough” or “it will do”. I strive for permanent solutions and improvements. I will discuss options and strategies before I begin so that we are on the same page and there is no surprise huge bill at the end.
REJUVINATION
Sometimes it can be just as good (and less expensive) to renovate your old, existing system after careful evaluation rather than “start all over”. Many times, newly designed nozzles and/or sprinklers can be substituted for older varieties with remarkable results. Adding a sprinkler or respacing some sprinklers could be the solution. An initial diagnostic review will determine whether this option is viable.
Subsequently, once your old system has been “tuned – up” to optimum performance, you should consider an annual check up to keep it that way. Subsequently, once your old system has been “tuned – up” to optimum performance, you should consider an annual check up to keep it that way.

ANNUAL CHECK-UPS
Too many incidents within the four seasons can be problematic to a basic watering design plan. Bicyclists, skateboarders, and pedestrians can do damage along sidewalks. A driver doing a u-turn in your driveway while you are at work can run over sprinklers next to the driveway. Gardeners can accidentally (or carelessly) break sprinklers, or risers, cut wires or pipe. Plant growth can require judicious pruning or raising or lowering a sprinkler for better coverage. Sometimes just checking the accuracy of your settings on the automatic sprinkler controller can save money on your water bill. If you wait too long between service calls, more irrigation equipment could go wrong and you could lose a part of your landscape. Timely maintenance can identify small leaks or problems before they become big issues.
installation design
Don’t let a gardener, handyman or plumber talk you into a contract that an irrigation professional may better serve you. Landscape contractors are legally allowed to install sprinklers also; but, sometimes I have found the irrigation part of their creative genius to be the weak link in the organization. With today’s finite water supply, you should trust a licensed, bonded, insured irrigation contractor for your gardening needs and that's where I come in. Having professional training in technical drawing and utilizing manufacturer’s recommended catalog specifications in sprinkler design and layout fulfills the theoretical part of the job; but, there is no substitute for experience and I have found there are many differences between manufacturer’s criteria and actual field application. I was foreman over our installation crews before transitioning to the repair side – and both areas allowed teaching moments not covered in textbooks or manuals.
Hillsides, shade, water pressure, flow, shrubbery, lawn, soil, and automatic sprinkler controllers may all play a part in your individual design requirements. This is a one-time only installation both for an entire location or a small addition.

drip irrigation
Drip irrigation is a vital part of efficient watering, yet limited in application. Certain projects are ideal for drip tubing and emitters while other zones require conventional sprinklers. Sometimes I think gardeners and some installers prefer drip because they don’t want to work too hard or don’t know the best way to irrigate a landscape area or micro-zone. Your property can be a combination of conventional sprinklers and drip tubing to achieve the proper watering. Beginning with your landscape design, a thorough thought process could lead to a drip zone and what type of emitters or tubing to best water your plants. Drip irrigation may be the best solution to your watering needs in some cases.
SMART TIMERS
Smart timers are weather satellite driven or have on-site remote weather monitors and/or smart phone /pc connected devices to calculate water time based on the previous day(s) temperature and solar metrics. If the weather gets hotter, they automatically water longer. If we enter a cooler season, the controller shortens the water time based on its recorded data. If there is enough rain, it will shut down immediately. Weather-based controllers are currently eligible for rebates from the Metropolitan Water District.
Regular automatic sprinkler controllers are still available to “keep it simple”. If you just want to water Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4:00am for ten minutes, you can do that. Usually you can buy a basic unit and upgrade it later if you would like.

LOW-VOLTAGE LIGHTING
Along with an annual checkup on your sprinkler system, a lighting check could be in order. Why not get it all done at once?
Todays LED lighting options offer efficient alternatives to older incandescent installs. A new lighting project, carefully planned and designed requires a long conversation with ideas and options. Lighting can be used for safety, security, beauty or all three concerns.
